07/09/10 3 Basketball The Kidlet's basketball coach challenged her to eat one meal a day with her non dominate hand. Tag Point: Spoon to Mouth

I marked with a I-click clicker. I marked the spoon to mouth about 10 times.

I missed several and was reminded.
She was eating cereal.

Project Assessment The Kidlet is learning to eat without slurping. The Kidlet started making a list and came up with:

Cut food into small pieces

Close lips while chewing

Swallow then speak

Dump spoon in mouth (instead of sucking the food off the spoon or fork.)
The Kidlet and I talked about what tag points can we use instead of eating with a quiet mouth.

We looked at the little things that makes quiet eating happen.
07/09/10 15 Karate We reviewed the 13 techniques and added 3 more. Tag point: Check We added 3 new techniques today.

We reviewed and worked on the new stuff for about an hour.

The only thing I tagged in any was keeping her non blocking or hitting hand up in a check.

The Kidlet also made a "flash card" for each technique. She put the technique number to correspond to the DVD and the technique name on one side.

She put what the technique is a defense against on the other.

She can study the cards and learn the defenses.

She can also sort the cards in to piles of similar movements, similar attacks or what ever to compare and contrast them.

She can also shuffle the cards and then preform the techniques.

Tennis The Kidlet is learning to play tennis and has a 45 minute group lesson 4 times a week for six weeks. This is the end of week # 4.
I watched the Kidlet's instructor try to teach a group of 9, 8 year old beginning tennis players how to serve.

She simply showed them how she does it and asked that the kids to copy her.

She gave them each three tries and then moved on.

This teaching method worked for 3 of the 8 children.

It did not work for
the Kidlet . She was seriously frustrated.

I need to break the serve into small bites and tag her on each part.

Project Assessment I sat in on the Kidlet's Cello lesson.
At her Cello lesson yesterday, The Kidlet's teacher showed her how to over bend her wrist on the up stroke and straighten her elbow to cause a relaxed should on the up stroke.

When the bow gets near the tip, the elbow should straighten.

She asked that
The Kidlet practice each for 5 minutes everyday for this week using a long bow action on the G string while keeping her body still.

Only the arm should move.

The Kidlet needs to be tagged on hold the cello upright.

The C peg should be just behind her ear.

Feet should be flat on the floor. Seat / Feet is the cue that the teacher used.

The torso should be slightly leaned forward toward Cello. Hug the cello is the cue that the teacher used.
